WOMEN AND POVERTY

If there were only 100 of us living in this world, 15 adults - including 10 women - would be illiterate

Women suffer more than men from different sorts of poverty because they are victims of various kinds of flagrant inequality: unequal access to education, health, means of production, property, and politically responsible posts. However, women play a major part in production and social life. They are important to the community in crop and stock farming, running money-spinning shops and stalls, social relations, caring and bringing up children and so on. If women are poor, society suffers.

On average, worldwide, Governments include just 7% women and Parliaments 12%
